Our Pedagogy

There are four pedagogical approaches that inform IKIC programs:

  1. Project-Based Learning: learning happens in the process of investigating a question and creating a meaningful project to share publicly.

  2. Culturally Relevant Pedagogy: students culture and identity act as a vehicle for learning and teachers strive to make learning relevant for students.

  3. Data-Driven Instruction:  teachers use student assessment data to inform their planning and instruction.

  4. Game-Based Learning. Students play games in class that allow them to learn in fun and engaging ways.

This was a really great program, and I really appreciated the two-fold mission of education for the teachers, as well as educating the students. I think this was a highlight of the program, and SO important for the overall goal of justice.
